NLP originated from two co-founders, Richard Bandler and John Grinder, who corroborated in the 1970′s, to provide a model for human excellence, that offered a state-of-the-art foundation for positive, personal change.

NLP, or Neuro Linguistic Programming, has often been described as an instruction manual for the brain.  It explores how you think (neuro), how you communicate, both verbally and non-verbally (linguistic), and takes into consideration your patterns, beliefs and emotions (programming). It is a powerful tool that changes the way people think and act, allowing for a more successful model of human excellence.  NLP brings about permanent changes that work!

Some of the beliefs of NLP:

The map is not the territory – it’s your neuro linguistic perceptions of reality that gives those perceptions and behaviours meaning, not reality itself.  It’s your map of reality that limits you, or empowers you.

NLP does not accept the idea that people are broken, rather it shows people are whole and resourceful, and able to use these resources in the right way at the right time.

People are not their behaviours….accept the person, change the behaviour.

You are in charge of your mind, and therefore, your results.

There is no failure…only feedback.

How will NLP benefit me?

Ideally, NLP will help you understand the reasons why you unconsciously follow certain patterns in your life.  It can help you break that routine and give you clear steps towards reaching a desired goal.

By harnessing the power of your unconscious mind, you are able to change the way you think, clear blockages from the past, and let go of outdated beliefs that are no longer working for you.

NLP will help you to set clearly defined goals that are kinesthetic (sensory), and initiated and maintained by yourself.

How many sessions will I need?

That really does depend on your needs and requirements, and whether you find the sessions beneficial.  Specific issues such as phobias and traumatic events can be resolved in one of two sessions.  Other issues such as self esteem, and confidence, may need up to 4-5 sessions.

These sessions can be spread over a period of time….a number of weeks or months. It may be that you have to come back in six months for a top up, or to work with new issues that have popped up.
